Individual Counselling

Individual Counselling Services

I provide counselling services that are tailored to suit the needs of each individual client. Commonly, I work with clients first to discover their personal perceptions about the cause for their presenting issues as well as what they feel they need from counselling in order to remedy their concerns. Clients and I will then work together towards developing treatment goals. Some of the issues that I commonly work with are:

  • Clinical Depression & Affective Disorders
  • Anxiety Disorders (Generalized, Panic Disorder, Phobias, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
  • Interpersonal Relationship Issues
  • Traumatic Stressors
  • Grief & Loss
  • Transitional Challenges
  • Past Abuse
  • Occupational Stress & Burnout
  • Fertility and Reproductive Health Issues

The counselling interventions that I may use are dependent upon several factors such as the type of presenting problem, the client's experience of it and existing research relating to the effectiveness of different types of interventions for particular difficulties. Many clients will also be encouraged to engage in activities outside of the session to assist them in reaching their counselling goals.

In general, the types of interventions commonly come from the following;

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Emotion Focused Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
  • Hypnosis
  • Meditation & Relaxation Training
  • Person Centered Therapy
